Tomy Sofhian has been named managing director of TNT Express Indonesia, replacing Ivan Siew who left the company for a new position in TNT Hong Kong.
Tomy’s appointment indeed marks a history, as he is the first Indonesian to lead TNT Express Indonesia ever since the company started to establish its presence in the archipelago 34 years ago.
Tomy has joined TNT Indonesia for more than 11 years, with the last two years leading the Sales & Marketing department. “It has been immense to reintroduce myself as managing director of TNT Indonesia. My new post awaits bigger responsibilities, but what matter the most is to continue the success we have achieved,” Tomy said at his inauguration day in Jakarta today.
Jos Raaymakers, managing director of TNT Express East Asia added that as a leading provider of integrated express services, TNT Express is committed to continuously expanding its business in Asia. Especially in Indonesia, the import business has a propitious outlook. “We have started the year 2013 with positive growth. The opportunity for the logistic industry in Indonesia is indeed numerous, and we will keep improving the import business especially in faster clearance time. This will also be one of the responsibilities that the new managing director of TNT Express Indonesia will focus on,” Jos explained with Tomy adding, “We have the capability of strengthening our import toward achieving our goal of becoming the leading Express Import Specialist in Indonesia.”
The capability, as Jos furthermore said, is based on the execution of TNT strategies. “The first choice for customers, great place to work and sustainable financial results are the three main elements that set TNT strategies, which in turn lead to our vision of becoming the most admired delivery company.”
In everyday’s business operation, TNT Express Indonesia regards human resources as vital. As the human resources are the engine that drives the company forward, all TNT Express offices around the world apply “Investors in People”, a program that helps to enhance the quality of employees.
“Through ‘Investors in People’, I hope that my leadership will contribute to the making of another solid team of TNT Express Indonesia that will keep moving forward with our quality values, mission, vision and strategy,” Tomy concluded.
