Located on 7.5 hectares of lush green grounds, BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong is all about giving students a conducive environment where they feel valued as part of the school’s community.
“This helps to strengthen their relationships not only with their friends but also with teachers, staff and parents of the school,” Anwin Samsudi, the principal of Early Childhood Years & Elementary level, explained.
“We want our school to be a ‘Home for Learning’ for our students, a place where they feel safe, accepted and welcomed. In short, the school is their second home. The school is a place where students interact freely with one another and learn to make sense of the world they live in. Their innocence, joy and passion add to the vibe of the school and make it a haven in which they learn, play and grow”.
Isaac Koh, the principal of the Middle School and High School, added that BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong is committed to implementing programs which not only provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge, but also promote character building. He added that in maintaining BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong as a Home for Learning, the school has improved facilities as a result of feedback gathered from level assemblies. “The improvements led to an increase in student’s recreation activities after school hours, which were organized by the students themselves. Our students have every reason to smile and look forward to a new school day in their ‘Home for Learning’,” he said.
Both principals also believe that teachers play a crucial role in mentoring and nurturing students. In other words, teachers need to pay close attention to their students’ progress. This is achieved by understanding students’ strengths and weaknesses and by helping them to unearth their potential toward achieving the goal of being world citizen.
“Nevertheless, such goals would never be achieved without a supportive community,” Isaac remarked. “Thus, the collective support from all members of our community bolsters our school’s ‘Home for Learning’ spirit. This truly helps pave the way for our students’ success in both academic and non-academic arenas.
