5 Ways to Keep You Healthy on Holidays

Christmas and New Year are coming to town! Everyone is looking forward to it since holidays mean more party, family gathering, leisure time, and more fresh food coming out from wok, oven or refrigerator. Although it’s impossible not to join this festivity with loved ones, keep in mind to maintain your physical and mental in good shape. Aside from preventing weight gain, stay healthy aims to hinder you from exhaustion that may affect your productivity when the holidays end.

Maintain water intake

As much as 60% of the human body’s total weight consists of water and we need to stay hydrated to maintain the ratio. The lack of water will cause dizziness, constipation and exhaustion. It’s not rocket science to prevent it, though. To make it simple, just drink water regularly and avoid consuming calorie drinks such as soda and alcoholic beverages.

Make time for self-care

Holidays are often considered as family times. Some relatives may pay a visit to your home, celebrate holydays together or do outings. In the midst of upholding collectivism practice, you shouldn’t sacrifice your needs and comfort on the back burner. Take some time to recharge your battery. Sparing a me-time during end-of-the-year also gives extra benefit to contemplate what you have done so far and how you plan things for the upcoming year.

Eat considerately

Holidays are commonly associated with a lot of feasts involving an array of mouth-watering dishes. However, it should be noted to eat in moderation unless you want to get more weight when holidays end. Consume considerable amount of carbs, protein, fiber and vitamin to keep your body healthy. You also need to give a mental note not to join a party with an empty stomach as this habit tend to promote overeating. Anything overdone turns out to be bad eventually, doesn’t it?

Be active

Holidays aren’t an excuse for any sloth invade your mind. Otherwise, it is the right time doing some outdoor activities that you often miss on regular days, from chilling out to museum with friends to a euphoria of new year party. Those also give more connection towards your inner circle and expand networks that lead to beneficial impart for mental state.

Snack wisely

No one can resist the charm of snacks in the middle of long holidays coming around. From pretzel, Christmas cookies, to grilled corn, they are ready to accompany you on the craziest days. To put the cherry on top, a simple substitute of munchies can help your weight in check. For instance, change soda with juice or sour cream with Greek yoghurt.
